California Winter

It’s supposed to be winter, but it feels like spring! The nights do get chilly, but the days are still sunny and warm. And we hardly got any rain yet!

Bermuda Buttercups in my yard are blooming already! They usually start to bloom at the end of February.

The roses are still blooming! I love to bring them in and photograph them on my doilies.

And I recently found a new little treasure in my front yard! I didn't really notice it before. It has beautiful blossoms and green with red leaves. Could anyone help me to identify this plant?

Hi Olga,
Lucky you!!! I love seeing all your pretty flowers, all we have is ice... it's cold up here but we are dry too, it's been a record setting dry December...
I'll take a long shot and GUESS, MAYBE your unknown flower is in the hardy fushia family? Whatever it is, what a pleasent sursprise:-)
Hugs,
Bella

It's a kind of fuchsia, maybe fuchsia fulgens rubra grandiflora.
Love from Spain.

Wow - I can't believe the difference and we're practically neighbors! On a map anyway. My yard looks like a vast, barren, brown, mess that nobody loves!

I'm putting in the third vote for fuchsia. It's definitely one, but I can't contribute the variety.

How I envy you. I do not like the cold winter months. Hubby says when he retires we will go where it is warm most of the year.

Hi Olga! Sounds like my kind of winter. Your flowers are so pretty. So far it's not been too bad here on the east coast. Hoping we only get a dusting for Christmas-and then goes away. Enjoy your spring like weather!

Dear Olga,
How lovely to still have some flowers growing in your area. I wish we did. It's so cold and we are absent of snow which I really like. Hope you find out what your surprise flower is. I'm wishing you a very Merry Christmas..
Fondly,
Shirley

Olga - you are so lucky to still be enjoying the beautiful roses and other flowers in your garden. The roses would be lovely in a Christmas centrepiece on your table! Best wishes for the season to you and your family!

Dearest Olga,

Hope you had a Merry Christmas yourself and that all is well with you; without the flu and such. Pieter is still fighting his flu, he got it after me...
As for this plant, it is a Fuchsia Thalia: http://binged.it/w43cHg and here you can read more also: http://www.joycreek.com/Fuchsia-Thalia-034-002.htm
Fuchsias were the favorite of my maternal grandmother and also my favorite but here in Georgia it is too hot for them...
Love to you,
Mariette

Olga, how loverly it was that you stopped by my little place, and left a calling card, otherwise I would have never found you, and I don't think I've ever seen more beautiful roses..and against those doilies..what a combination..stunning.. The pink ones look so delicated and almost transparent..you have a green thumb to be sure. The little flowers you can't identify look like little trumpets...I see what I can find...enjoy your day.
