The Beginning of a Teacup Collection

In my dining room there is a shelf that has been empty for a long time. I just couldn’t come up with anything to display there. But then I thought it would be nice to fill it with pretty teacups. Hence, these three cups are the beginning of my tea cup collection.

They aren’t any special in terms of their origin, but they are special to me because I got them from my mother. She had the tea set for decades, but now this is all that is left.

The cups now occupy my shelf, but I do intend to use them often. Pretty things should be used and enjoyed, and not merely displayed. Don’t you think?

Today, I am joining Martha at Martha's Favorites for Teacup Tuesday. Check out her blog to see what interesting mustache teacups she has in her collection.

Yes,pretty things should be used. Use leaves a better patina than dust! These cups are distinctive looking...I think they look very 1950ish.

Dearest Olga,

They look a bit Japanese... they are so elegant! What a treasure to have them handed down from your Mother! Enjoy them for every sip you take from them...

La idea de la colecciòn de tazas es muy buena, mi abuela tenia una, eran miles de tazas, pero ella no las usaba, usarlas me parece lo mejor!!!

I totally agree with you, pretty things should be used, why leave them to collect dust when the use will bring us so much more joy than just looking at them? Good for you, hope you get to drink lots of tea from those gorgeous teacups!

Lovely teacup, I agree as well, what good is a treasure if it's locked away? I'm quite sure that my Great grandmother would be pleased to know that I still use her teacups. When you use them they are in your mind, but when you put them on a shelf they tend to get forgotten like back ground noise. Enjoy today. Take care.
