First Spring Blooms

It’s always fun when the first blooms appear in my yard. Of course, California winters are warm, and it’s possible to have flowers year round. But then the spring time in the garden wouldn’t be so exciting!

My grape hyacinths are now blooming. This is the second year I have them in this terracotta pot. They originated from a single plant that sneaked in my yard from the neighbor’s side of the fence. They spread like crazy and don’t require any care at all. I think when they are done blooming I will thin them out a bit and perhaps plant in another pot.

Here are my cyclamens! The pink ones are in full bloom, but the white and red ones are only appearing. Again, they take care of themselves and come out every spring.

A few Bermuda Buttercups showed up here and there. Many gardeners wouldn’t want them in their yards because they are so invasive. But I don’t mind. They don’t have much chance to spread over in my yard, and having small splashes of yellow in spring time is nice.

It's been a long time since I joined Tootsie for her Fertilizer Friday / Flaunt Your Flowers link party. I'm gladly joining her today.

Lovely spring blooms Olga. I love how warm climes plant outside what we grow indoors for houseplants.

How pretty! Such a lovely variety of blooms too. I live in southern California and have to say that Spring is exciting here as well!! We finally are rid of those grating Santa Ana Winds (hot, strong and dusty) and roses, hydrangea, Sweet Pea, Morning Glory, etc., all start emerging to grow buds and bloom. :)

Beautiful flowers! My cyclamen which I had planted in 3 different pots were actually blown out of their positions by strong winds after Christmas!

Very pretty springtime post, Olga! Love that your flowers are so happy that they keep on multiplying and that you let the buttercup stay. So sweet! xx

Hi Olga,
It's looking all springy your way! Beautiful blooms! I love the cyclem, I grow them outside here, but they get frost damage sometimes, yours are picture perfect:-)
Hugs,

So pretty! I've only had cyclamen inside. And you're grape hyacinth are way ahead of mine. Only green here still. And yes, they do spread like wild fire, but I love them anyway. The bulbs are easy to yank out if they get too crazy. Putting them in a pot is a good idea. I may just have to dig some of mine and do that.

What a lovely splash of colour those Muscari are. They look great in that terracotta pot too. I may just steal that idea for next year. Isn't spring wonderful!

Hello Olga.

I did not know that 'cyclamen's could grow in the ground.! (is that only in warm climates)

A lovely post. Such lovely colour.

Your Spring blooms are lovely to see. Ours can only be found in the grocery store or flower shop and to leave the store they would have to be wrapped in paper to prevent them getting frostbite on the way home! Thanks for a glimpse of your garden - you must enjoy it so much!
