The seventeenth of May is the national day of Norway. My husband is Norwegian, so it is a very important day for him.
I wanted to do something special for my husband on the occasion, so I searched the web for different Norwegian recipes. On allrecipes.com I found a recipe for Norwegian cookies called Kringla. The recipe had good reviews, so I decided to give it a try.
I followed the recipe precisely, yet I had a bit of trouble. The dough turned out very sticky, so it was impossible to roll it and make shapes. I had to put the dough in a ziplock bag and press it out on the cookie sheet. My Kringla cookies came out imperfect in shape, yet soft and fluffy, a bit too sweet for me, but definitely delicious. But most importantly, they brought homeland memories to my husband making his National day special.

Hello Olga. i'm glad you found my blog interesting. Yours is lovely - I want to tell you that we have eaten nasturtiums on salads for years - thanks to my adventuresome brother in law. He's a wonderful gardener so I will forward the picture of the purple blossoms and ask if he can identify that tree. I'll look forward to reading your blog.

Hello Olga! It is such a joy to meet you and visit your sweet place here! Your cookies look delicious and I think you were quite clever in using a bag to pipe the dough. Seems to have worked well!
I have enjoyed perusing several of your posts and loved the bush filled with pretty purple flowers. Loved the summer top your mom crocheted for your birthday too as well as the serving plate from Spain.
Thank you for stopping by my blog and leaving your comment!

Hi Olga, your cookies turned out beautifully, they look delish! And so festive with the little flags. How did you ever think of pressing them out with a ziploc bag, what a smart idea. I'm sure your husband appreciates your efforts in celebrating his National Day. Happy National Day to him and to both of you a pleasant evening.
He is a lucky fellow and I am sure he knows that! They look tasty and the flags are great! Thoughtful and tasty too! Have a great day!
