I don’t know the name of this amazing tree, which delights me with its blossoms every spring. The flowers start rich purple then gradually turn light purple and finally white. Because the flowers don’t start blooming all at the same time, the tree exhibits a beautiful mix of purple and white. I adore this tree; it makes a wonderful picture spot.
And now from purple to yellow. These are my nasturtiums. I recently found out that their flowers are edible and can be used in salads. Well, perhaps someday I will give them a try, but it will take me a while to get used to the idea.
I also want to show two of my herbs. This is my golden lemon thyme (and a little fellow left in the garden by the previous owners). I am very pleased with this herb as I use it quite often in cooking and it doesn’t require any special care at all.
Finally, this is my basil. Well, it’s not exactly “mine” as I didn’t grow it (though I tried to grow basil from seeds this year, I didn’t succeed). I bought this pot from Trader Joe’s for only 2.99. When I saw it, I couldn’t believe my eyes – such a big pot for such a low price. When buying fresh basil from a produce store, a much smaller bunch would cost more then that.
When I was driving home, the smell of fresh basil filled my car making me fancy homemade pizza topped with chopped fresh basil. Yum!

HI OLGA THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR FALOWING MY BLOG HUGS...SANDRA
Hi Olga... Your tree is gorgeous, I have no idea what it is though. I bought those giant pots of Basil from Trader Joes last year... aren't they a great deal? I am gonna have to head that way today and see if they have them in our store yet, thanks for the heads up!

These are one of the beautiful flowers I have ever seen in my entire life. Love the way you have presented the flowers with us.

Oh, the tree with the purple flowers is so pretty! I'm not sure what it is either. The flowers are just like the impatiens that I plant in my flower garden every year. Beautiful photos!
Hi Olga, I agree eating nasturtiums does take a little getting used to but they're not bad really......and fresh basil on pizza is absolutely THE BEST...I also make a little salad of chopped tomato, fresh basil and mozzarella cheese, optional-red onion, drizzled with a good aged balsamic vinegar like Colavita that is delightful, so fresh. Pretty pictures.
WoW Olga!! Your garden is amazing!! I too agree with you that potted herbs are cheaper than the cut ones. They are fresher too!!!
Beautiful garden and wonder what vegan recipes you use- just musing --- also my Basil comes from Trader Joe's each year -- you cannot beat the price and the quality.
Happy Outdoor Wednesday.

Hello Olga,
What a pretty tree! Great herbs. You really should try the nasturtium in your salads. The blossoms have a sweet, spicy flavor similar to watercress and the leaves add peppery tang to salads. I too am a vegetarian and I use a lot of fresh herbs in my cooking and I also like to use fresh flowers.
