Blue Nigella

I never found nigella flowers particularly pretty (I thought they were too simple) until I actually took a moment to look at them.

I think blue nigella is one of those flowers whose beauty cannot be noticed at a glance. You need to study them closely to see the loveliness of delicate layered petals, feathery leaves, and deep blue color. That is what I did last summer at a local park. Since then, these flowers are one of my favorite annuals.

I collected the seeds at the park, and now I can enjoy blue nigella growing in my own yard...

Or cheering up my garden table.

To share my pretty nigella flowers, I am joining the following link parties:

Cottage Flora Thursday @ Fish Tail Cottage,
Home Sweet Home Friday @The Charm of Home,
Fertilizer Friday @ Tootsie Time
Show and Tell Friday @ My Romantic Home.

Thank you for stopping by.

Ooh, I've never seen those before. I think they're beautiful.

I love them too! I grew up with my mom calling them Love In A Mist, so the name stuck with me. They're quite easy to start by seed for those unable to find the plants. I've grown pink and white as well. Thank you for reminding me of this sweet plant!

I have just recently heard about these. The seeds of at least one variety are used in many parts of the world as a spice. I was fascinated when I heard about them, and now that I see what they look like, I would really like to try and grown some. I wonder how well they would do in this climate?

Dearest Olga,

I certainly envy you for those beautiful blue Nigella flowers; WOW!
Noticed that you too have no followers in your sidebar... What is going on with Blogger? A lot of blogs one cannot comment either.
Will blog tonight about how to EXPORT our blog so we save it. I did hear about several bloggers who lost everything! Just imagine, all the work...

Lots of love,

Mariette

And oh, Pieter said if you would wrap those cuttings in a paper towel, wet inside a ziploc bag in an envelope they will easily survive the journey to Georgia. We would love to have them! Will reimburse you for the mailing.
Oh, I too found out we have a toxic plant... Will post about it later.

My problem is...I would mess up taking a picture of a concrete block...honestly. I do love viewing God's creation as captured through the camera of others and you have done that quite well.
I’ve been following and enjoying your blog for a while now (5 pages back on your follow wedgit)and would like to invite you to visit and perhaps follow me back. Sorry I took so long for the invitation.
