Garden after the Storm

It’s been raining non-stop for a few days now. And last night we even had a storm. Today, when it stopped raining for a short while, I went out to my garden to see what was going on there.

It looks like the rain has a good effect on my plants. My little herb garden is thriving. But it is the blooms that interested me the most.

grape hyacinth

I found this little blue volunteer. I have no idea what its name is or where it came from. But I must say I love its tiny bells; they are so delicate and lovely.

yellow flower

Here is another plant, whose name I don’t know. It is a small shrub and it has been in the garden since we moved to this place a few years ago. It blooms almost year around.

Chinese Fringe Flower

My Chinese Fringe Flower bush is blossoming to the full extent. I learnt its name only today from Masha’s blog (thank you Masha).

plum tree in bloom

My neighbors’ plum tree is in bloom as well, showering my calla lily plant with tiny white petals. But I don’t mind it at all; it looks so pretty!

Such beautiful flowers. The rain does wonderful things for the garden. The little blue flower is called a grape hyacinth (I think).

Hi Olga,
Lots of beautiful blooms down there in the sun!!
The fringe tree is gorgeous!!
Your blue flowers are a bluebell hyacinth, they grow like crazy here, the birds and squirels scatter them :-) I love volunteer plants, little fun surprises:-)
Happy spring to you:-)

Your flowers are so pretty and a rainstorm usually makes them so much prettier. I am like you I adore flowers, but do not know the name for most of them. There is always a surprise flower in my garden each year it seems.

This is beautiful. I think the first remind me of Muscari - not quite sure. Love the showered petals! Your garden looks like it enjoyed the rain!
Hope you have a great day,
Kathy

Yes, those are grape hyacinths. Ours aren't up yet here in the Philly area. We have lots of daffodils beginning to bloom. I love seeing your blooms, and I can't wait to see ours.

I am wondering what season is just now in California, Spring? Should be, I can see it at the blue hyacinth. We have here a lot in our gardens in springtime. Here where I live are just blooming snowdrops. For me the flowers are also the most important part in the garden. I don't even have vegetable only some different bushes of fruits. Have a nice start into the blooming seasons.

Those are beautiful. I have no idea what those first two are either. But I do have some chinese fringe. Mine are beginning to fade now. Wish they'd last a big longer.

Dear Olga,
Very pretty. Is it not a wonder that we all love being in our gardens, or even just in the presence of a flower or two..
Sincerely,
Shirley
