Joys from the Garden

My garden still provides me with occasional joys.
This week, I picked four eggplants from my still-going-strong plants. At my local produce store eggplants cost two dollars each. So I have eight dollars in my basket right there :-)

And people say money doesn’t grow on trees! Ha! I’d say it grows on plants; you just need to know which kind of plants!

I also want to show you a huge tomato that I grew this summer. You can’t really judge about its size from the picture, but it weighted almost a pound!

What a splendid gardener I am :-)

Olga, I'd say you definitely have a green thumb!! Your eggplants look jewel-like with their shiny deep purple skin. And the tomato! It looks like it has embroidery by the stem. xo,

Dearest Olga,

You did very well on those veggies indeed. Love the egg plants or aubergine as we used to call them in Europe.
Love to you,

Mariette

Your veggies look wonderful. That is one thing I hate about winter is missing my veggie garden. Nothing taste better than home grown veggies.

Hi Olga, As soon as I saw your eggplant post I had to smile as I bought an eggplant today to make egglplant lasagna tomorrow. I went right to my grocery list to see what I paid and I paid 1.79/Lb and it was 1.17 Lb so I paid 2.09..you are right on..but I bet your eggplant would taste so much better..LOL! That tomato is making me wish we still had garden tomato's growing. Nothing beats a garden grown tomato..I always buy from the farmers market as I only grow flowers..I have tried..no luck..maybe next season now that I don't work outside the home any longer.
Enjoy your harvest!

Look at your beautiful eggplants! How nice. So fun that you had a prize winning tomato! That would have been very interesting to see on the plant! Did you eat it with cremony? You ARE a splendid gardener!

Lovely eggplant. One of my favorite colors. You visited my blog a while ago but I'm finally catching up and wanted to stop by. Sorry it took me so long to get here!

Yes Olga it's time to give yourself a pat on the back! Your garden vegetables look good enough to eat! And I like your phrase " dollars in the basket"! Will we see the eggplant after you cooked it? Hope so!

Hello Olga
I hope you will share the dish you make with your eggplants, they are beauties.
A large tomato indeed. I have a photo I took of one over 5 lb but it is very ugly and not tempting like yours.
