A Few Beauties from My Garden

I have a huge Dietes Grandiflora plant in my garden. Only a few days ago I found out its name from Natasha, Stacey, and Holly’s blog: 3 Sisters, 365 (thank you, girls). Other common names for this flower are Native Iris, Wild Iris, and Fairy Iris. I just love the delicate inner purple petals of this flower.

Unfortunately, I cannot impress you with my knowledge of the scientific or even the common name of this flower. This burgundy-colored lily is a surprising guest in my garden. I have no idea where it came from. It wasn’t here last year and I don’t have such lilies anywhere in my garden. Before the blossom appeared, I thought my Wild Iris began to spread. But no! There must be a reasonable explanation of how this flower got in my garden, but I just cannot find it. In any case, I’m happy to have this beautiful lily in my garden.

This rose is called Bewitched Hybrid Tea Rose (I copied its name in my notebook from the planter, so I wouldn’t forget it). When we moved into this house two years ago, my husband planted this rose as a present for me. Wasn’t that smart? He doesn’t need to buy roses from the store anymore. I really love my beautiful present.

I am happy to join Tootsie for Fertilizer Friday.

And I am just as happy to join (for the first time) Macro Flowers Saturday.

Glad we could help! I am not very good with plants but I knew this one as my Father-in-law planted it for us and told me all about it.

Your flowers look lovely-great photo!

Thanks for visiting and for the mention here-you are so sweet!

Best wishes for a lovely weekend,
Natasha.

Beautiful Dietes ... and the second one looks like a variety of Hemerocallis or Day Lily ... it's a gorgeous colour! Looks like you have a couple of other admirers of your rose as well!!

The burgundy flower is an Hemerocallis, does it smell? If not it could be Hemerocallis Fulva.

Your Iris is spectacular. Your unknown plant is a hemerocallis or daylily.

Well Olga--I know nothing of names of species etc., but you have a perfect rose. It looks more REAL with the teeny critters on it! Macro Flowers! Can you believe all the different concepts for parties there are out there? I'm going to have to go check that one out. Yours is gorgeous! Jacqueline

O these flowers are wonderful! Your first one I have too, but not till recently did I find out its name! I did not know, however, that it was also called Fairy Iris! I love that for a name! The rose is majestic and your lily is stunning! Almost looks like a cross with a tiger lily!

I haven't seen anything quite like the dietes before. It is beautiful. I actually planted some oriental lily bulbs 2 years ago and they didn't come up last year, so thought they wouldn't. Surprise, surprise! They popped up this year and are beautiful! Being a big fan of roses, I love the Bewitched. I have 5 varieties of roses, but not one pink. Next year for my birthday, I'll ask for one. Hubby buys me bushes instead of cut flowers. I think I like that idea better. ;)

How sweet of your husband to plant the rose bush for you. It's stunning. Beautiful blooms. Sure wish some surprise blooms would happen in my yard.

You do have beauties here - I think I am waiting on the same iris to open its blooms in the garden. The 2nd one is possibly Pink Damask Hemerocalis - a favourite of mine and that rose is so special......I like getting flowers with roots as presents. As you are new to this meme uou can see my submission for Macro flowers Saturday on my photoblog "Centre of Interest" rather than on my nature blog.
